The Process Heating Services ranges of Industrial Immersion Heaters
The PIH Range
The PIH range is exclusive to Process Heating Services. We offer both a PIHB range with brass screwplugs and a PIHSS range with stainless steel screwplugs.
Our PIHSS (stainless-steel-screwplug) industrial immersion heaters have 16mm diameter heating elements, which reduce their watts density resulting in longer life. They are suitable for heating water, mild alkaline, and acid solutions.
This resistance to chemical attack is in part a result of the stainless-steel 316 elements being TIG-welded (where the weld itself is made of stainless steel) into a stainless-steel 304 screwplug. The combination of these parts results in a chemical-resistant assembly, securing the working elements.
Our PIHB (brass-screwplug) heavy-duty industrial immersion heaters are suitable for water and for mild alkaline solutions.
On our PIHB range, the heating elements are brazed into place, where others would fix them in place with solder. If there is any movement of a soldered element such a disturbance can crack the solder. Brazing therefore offers greater protection against mechanical damage.
Both PIH ranges feature alloy-forged rotatable terminal enclosures built to the IP65 standard. This means that their exterior surfaces can be hosed down in a production environment. (IP stands for Ingress Protection.)
Everything in our PIH range is a stock item and, if ordered in the morning can usually be delivered by the next working day.
Our PII (Process Industrial Immersion) range is manufactured with incoloy-800 8mm-diameter elements. Incoloy 800 offers even better corrosion resistance than stainless steel.
The terminal box on PII immersion heaters is built to IP67 standard, which is higher still than the IP65 ingress protection rating. This means that the external surface is waterproof and dustproof over extended periods of time, as well as offering protection against objects greater than 1mm in size—for examplem, small tools and wires.
Bespoke/special development
Our PII range consists of stock items, but can also be customised to some extent, for example, if you require a different wattage or voltage, we have a two-week turnaround time for production of specific items of this kind.
Our PCAB (Process Calorifier and Brewery) range features 10mm incoloy-800 U-shaped heating elements, which are suitable for applications requiring ease of regular cleaning. They can be used to heat water and mild alkaline solutions.
These are also manufactured to the IP65 dust- and liquid-resistance standard.
The IP (Ingress Protection) standards are IEC specifications for resistance to dust and liquids. IP65 specifies resistance to dust and liquids, including liquids projected from a cleaning nozzle or similar (spray-resistant). This is important, for example, in food industries.
